Photoshop Color Preferences and Proof Setup

Photographers across the world are choosing to take the step of getting "Color Wise".

This is good but you may still not get the result that you expect. This is because we all have to start from the same place. Be on the same page, so to speak. There are a lot of settings in image editing programs and knowing what to put where can be a daunting task.

Those of you that are doing extensive color correcting to your images read on. If you are only rotating and retouching blemishes etc., it is not necessary to go the extra steps.

You can get a CD with two images and the match prints to go with those images. As long as the match is close, read no further

For the "Color Wise"

You must have a calibrated monitor. And then……..

In an attempt to make it easier you have two courses of action.

1.) Set your settings as we have indicated on the "Photoshop Settings and Proof Setup" screen capture and don’t look back.

Or

2.) Read "Color Management for the Rest of Us" by Julianne Kost (one of Adobe System’s top instructors).  Click here to download the PDF file now.

Then adjust your settings.

Note:

If you are using the Phase One software for converting Raw Camera Files, there is an intent mismatch that can not be fixed at this time. Do not use the HS output viewing profile in Phase One.
